Summary 

 

On the last day of the Individual World Fencing Championships it was one more time Italian Valentina Vezzalli who took the Gold Medal. She beat in the Final match her teammate Margherita Granbassi 11:8. Both had met in last years final alreay. Granbassi had won last years Gold in Torino. The Bronze Medals went to Italy and Hungary. Giovanna Trillini lost in the Semi-Final to Valentina Vezzali and Aida Mohammed (Hungary) lost her Semi-Final Match to Granbassi.

Vezzali is four times Olympic Champion. She had a baby and took a short break between Athens Olympics and Leipzig World Championships in 2005, but she won there as well. She takes now her fifth World title. She underwent a knee surgery after last years Championships in Torino, Italy and again she is back.
